Special Interest Groups
The Bloomsbury Learning Exchange facilitates a range of Special Interest Groups (SIGs) for staff based within BLE partner institutions. SIGs are co-chaired by selected individuals across the consortium who have expertise in the specific topic.
SIGs generally meet during term-time. Where possible, they are conducted hybrid. Unless an invited speaker is delivering a presentation, meetings tend not to be recorded, or else the recording is stopped prior to any subsequent discussion, to provide a safe space for members to talk freely.

As well as providing the opportunity to share and showcase practice, we ensure that SIG meetings have tangible outputs benefiting attendees and their institutions.

- sharing current practice and experiences;
- seeking advice for challenges;
- developing shared resources - e.g. training and guidance; planning material; policy and strategy documentation;
- hearing from invited speakers; demonstrations and field trips - e.g. reciprocal institutional visits, exhibitions, etc.
As well as providing the opportunity to share and showcase practice, we ensure that SIG meetings have tangible outputs benefiting attendees and their institutions.
In times of current economic constraints, the importance of collaboration and sharing of practice has never been so important for higher education.
The BLE’s Special Interest Groups are an excellent and multi-purpose resource for the HE professionals working within many areas across the BLE partner institutions. Fostering a sense of community between otherwise disparate institutions and roles, and making it easier than ever to share ideas and improve methods of practice, the BLE SIGS provide a safe, secure, and extremely convenient forum to discuss innovations and concerns, as well as to develop and explore joint initiatives, projects and future possibilities.
