Video Content Creators (MOOC)
Students* with film and video expertise are being recruited to do filming and production of learning content for a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) about doctoral study in the UK. Video Content Producers will work on an hourly basis, at the rate of £15.15, within the course development team.
The work will take place over about 3 months, in blocks of activity with gaps between them. Flexibility is necessary, but your own schedule will also be respected. Using this work to fulfill a student project or portfolio is welcome. We would be happy to discuss this with your supervisor. We will be building a team with complementary skills. If you are stronger in one skill set than the other, please indicate this clearly in your application. |
Background
The MOOC aims to make potential doctoral students aware of what studying at doctoral level in the UK entails and what they should consider when thinking about applying. Of particular focus will be students of very different backgrounds, including groups historically under-represented (such as Black, Asian and minority ethnic; disabled; older; white working class; refugee; traveller). The aim is to avoid exclusion and increase the number of potentially strong doctoral candidates from all backgrounds into UK universities.
The project is being developed by the Bloomsbury Learning Exchange, a digital education partnership of seven institutions in Central London.
Role:
The course will run on the FutureLearn platform. It is therefore recommended that anyone interested in this role become familiar with FutureLearn by browsing its course offerings and accessing open content. Post holders will also be required to experience a short course directly to understand the potential for use of video within the platform.
Location:
Live filming (Skill Set 1) will be mostly London-based. Please note: we cannot reimburse travel expenses, so proximity to London would be best. Other production tasks (Skill Set 2) can mostly occur remotely. Applicants not normally resident in/near London should explain why this would not pose a problem in their application.
